Collaboration

(If the videos say "not available" or similar, please just refresh the page and it should work)

This page is all about the collaboration between me and Connor, who is a audio student.

The vfx class presented our projects to the audio students, then they could pick the project they thought was most interesting. I teamed up with Connor Ian Debenham. And the next week, we met to discuss what audio would fit my project. He created a draft for me, with the type of audio we had discussed earlier. Which was that I wanted there to be birds singing in the background and audio of a waterfall, and then later it would be more quiet and more of a scary vibe to the audio as the scene went darker. At the very end I wanted it to be a scary suprise when the vines grabs the camera, so some kind of loud sound. All of this didn't come across very obvious in the first draft, because I was working on the project, but had not gotten too far yet. I continued to work on a new render that would be easier for Connor to work with.

First draft

Second Draft

After a few weeks, I added some of the models I had created and managed to do some quick animations so that Connor could have a new draft to work with. This is the second draft. This version of the project was of course way too long, so I had to cut it down. But in this draft, the shots and the camera angles are very similar to the final version, and I tried to keep it that way so Connor didn't have to make too many drastic changes. I quite liked the work he had done, it was a lot like I had thought it would turn out.

Shortly after the vfx and the audio students presented our collaboration work so far, Connor and I finished it all. The video below is the final project with the final audio. He added some more animal sounds to the last shot to make it a bit more scary. The audio is pretty similar to the last draft, but the whole project is shorter now, so he adjusted the audio to fit the new length.

I think the work Connor has done for my project fits really well, and certainly lifts my project. I want to thank Connor for his part in the collaboration, and I hope to work with him again sometime in the future. It has been a pleasure working with him.
